Gwen Ifill - Another Journo-leftist posing as "impartial"

The list of leftists and liberals posing as "impartial" journalists is probably too long tackle.  But today's Demmy Award (Democrats Behaving Badly Award) nominee is something of a no-brainer.  Gwen Ifill, PBS "journalist" and author of the upcoming book titled "Breakthrough: Politics and Race in the Age of Obama" which is due to release (she hopes) on the day of Barack Obama's inauguration apparently finds nothing wrong with posing as tonight's "impartial" host of the first Vice Presidential Debate between Joe Biden (D) and Sarah Palin (R). This is simply outrageous, of course.  Imagine the outcry if Rush Limbaugh were tonight's moderator. (John McCormack at the Weekly Standard's Blog has more.)

The problem, of course, with Democrats and leftists is that they're unable or unwilling to recognize that their's might not be the only reasonable argument.  Therefore in Ifill's world, she probably is "fair" and "impartial" and we center-right Republicans are gun-toting (although I don't own a gun), bible-thumping (although I am agnostic), facist (although my convictions believe in less centralized, less authoritarian government) extremists.  Once, one accepts that we are viewed this way by your friendly neighborhood Democrat, one better understands why Democrats feel not only a right, but an obligation to squelch our free speech, trample upon our principles and rights and violate us both intellectually and sometimes even physically.  Democrats behave badly, not because they are bad people, but because like the Nazis and Stalinists and Maoists, their leaders have convinced them that opposing views stem from evil people bent on doing harm to them.  It's a small leap from discarding your decency in the  name of "the ends justifying the means" to becoming that which you profess to hate.
