A question occured to me as I was driving into work today that perhaps was so obvious it defied asking:
I am 36 years old and have been a voting-aged adult for more than half of my life and no one from ACORN or any other group has ever asked me to register to vote. I wonder why some teenaged kids and homeless people get paid to register 20 or more times. They somehow were even able to trackdown Mickey Mouse and the starting lineup of the Dallas Cowboys to register but missed me.
No "community organizer" has ever sought me out to offer me help in any way or even sought my opinion on anything I might care about in my neighborhood or asked for my help to better the community.
No pollster has ever asked me which candidate I prefer or my stance on the issues. Nor have I been asked to be part of a "focus group".
No one has offered to take me to the polls to vote in a tax-subsidized van.
No one has offered me a grant, a handout, a giveaway, a perk, or a gosh darned thing my whole life (not that I think anyone should).
I've never run into my Senator at Home Depot and been asked about the issues I care about.
I have a job, 4 kids a wife and two dogs and make less than six figures.
If politicians like Joe Biden and Barack Obama or any of the rest of them care so much about the middle class, I wonder why all these years, no one has seemed to give a rat's behind what I think and how I'm doing. Makes me wonder who they think they're fooling.
